Codeine monohydrate has been used as a standard in the quantitative analysis of codeine by using different types of protein assays like biuret, bicinchoninic acid (BCA), coomassie brilliant blue (CBB) , pyrogallol red–molybdate (PRM) assay, Lowry assay and benzethonium chloride (BEC) assay, while relating the effective response of the drug with the type of assay.[1] Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique.
