Application
Perfluorodecanoic acid may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in the following:
biological samples using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection[1]
whole blood samples using high-performance liquid chromatography-negative electrospray single quadrupole mass spectrometry (HPLC/ES-MS)[2]
environmental water samples using high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC/ESI-MS/MS)[3]
General description
Perfluorodecanoic acid is an environmental pollutant, belonging to the perfluorochemical (PFCs) class of compounds. These compounds are widely used as surfactants, polymer and plastic additives, wetting agents, corrosion inhibitors, lubricants, foam-fire extinguishants, etc.[1][2][3]
This compound is listed in the SVHC (Substances of very high concern) candidate list of ECHA (European Chemicals Agency)
