General description
Tralomethrin is a non-systemic pyrethroid insecticide that is effective in controlling a range of agronomic pests, particularly Lepidoptera in cereals, fruits, vegetables, and other crops. It acts by modifying the sodium channels in neurons, the major target site of pyrethroid insecticides, leading to paralysis, and eventually death.
Tralomethrin is not authorized for use in the European Union as per the European Council Directive 91/414/EEC concerning the placement of plant protection products on the European market. A default maximum residue level (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg has been set according to Reg 396/2005
Application
The analytical standard (Pestanal) can be used to:
Evaluate the analytical behavior of tralomethrin using GC-ECD and GC-MS, and compare the analytical parameters for tralomethrin and deltamethrin
Evaluate the residue levels of pyrifenox, pyridaben, and tralomethrin in tomatoes grown in a plastic greenhouse, and assess the effect of three different household processes and the “unit to unit” variability of these pesticides in tomatoes
Study the electrochemical reduction behavior of tralomethrin and tralocythrin at glassy carbon and mercury electrodes in the non-aqueous solvents acetonitrile, and methanol
Evaluate the degradation behavior and residue levels of pyridaben and tralomethrin in peppers grown in a plastic greenhouse
Study the association between environmental exposure to pesticides and risk of epilepsy
Determine the fate and persistence of tralomethrin and deltamethrin in simulated outdoor pond microcosms
