Aflatoxin B1 solution may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in meat, meat products, eggs and milk using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence and ultraviolet detection.[1]
General description
Aflatoxin B1 is a mycotoxin found to be hepatocarcinogenic in nature.[2][3] It has a strong affinity for the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and binds to both native and denatured deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) as indicated by spectroscopy and equilibrium dialysis results.[4] This fungal metabolic product is commonly found in food and feed, contaminated by Aspergillus species.[5]
