General description
Butyl acetate can find wide applications in painting and coating industries.[4] It can also serve as a substitute to toxic solvents used in the manufacture of acrylic polymers, enamels, vinyl resins, nitrocellulose and lacquers.[4] It is generally prepared by the esterification of butanol with acetic acid in the presence of sulfuric acid.[4] It can also be obtained via transesterification reaction of methyl acetate with butanol.[4]
