Butyl stearate may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in cosmetic products[1][2] and fruit-based baby foods[3] by various chromatography techniques. It may be used as an internal standard for the determination of fungicides in fruit juice and wine samples by capillary gas chromatography[4] and for the analysis of lysinoalanine in food proteins by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC).[5] General description
Butyl stearate is a fatty acid ester, which has application in cosmetics, personal care products, and as an emollient in food industries.[3][6][7] This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food.
