Cetyl alcohol can undergo reaction with arachidic acid to form cetyl arachidate.[1] Cetyl alcohol may be used as an excipient for the determination of acyclovir in pharmaceutical preparations[2] and tranexamic acid[3] in cosmetic products by chromatography techniques.
