Application
Chlornitrofen may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in river water,[1][2] air samples[3] and tobacco[4] by chromatography based techniques.
General description
Chlornitrofen (Cnf) is a diphenyl-ether-derived pesticide belonging to the nitrophenyl chemical class of compounds. It is a pre-emergence herbicide used to control annual weeds and some perennials, including Eleocharis acicularis and Sagittaria pygmaea in rice fields. The mode of action of Cnf is by the inhibition of a vital enzyme, protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO).[5][6]
