Fucoxanthinol belongs to the class of carotenoids. It is the primary metabolite of fucoxanthin, a major marine carotenoid isolated from edible brown seaweeds such as Undaria pinnatifida, Hijikia fusiformis, Laminaria japonica and Sargassum fulvellum with various biological functions. Fucoxanthinol is a compound of significant interest as it exhibits various physiological effects. It is a chemotherapeutic agent that is known to inhibit the growth of human colorectal cancer cells.[1][3][4]
