Tea tree oil can be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in cosmeceutical formulations,[1] and cleaning products[2] by various analytical techniques.
General description
Tea tree oil (TTO) is the most popular and valued essential oil extracted from the Australian native plant Melaleuca alternifolia. The chemical composition of TTO consists largely of monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and their associated alcohols. It is a natural antiseptic and exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity.[3][4]
