1) Description
The septa in the cap of the headspace vial ensures a good seal. Septas are usually made of materials with good chemical inertness, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and silicone, which can effectively prevent sample vapor from leaking, while also preventing external air and contaminants from entering the vial. This is very important to maintain sample purity and integrity, especially when performing analysis of volatile compounds. Septas also help maintain proper air pressure within the vial, which is particularly critical for certain types of chromatography.
2) Application
This septas are used with 18mm screw headspace vias, and mainly used in gas chromatography (GC) and liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis, especially in headspace sampling technology. This technique is used to extract volatile compounds from liquid or solid samples. Common applications include:
Environmental Analysis: Detecting contaminants in water and soil samples.
Food and Spice Analysis: Identification of aroma components in foods or spices.
Pharmaceutical Industry: Quality Control of Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
Chemical Analysis: Analyzing the composition and purity of chemicals.
