The sample is collected using a pre-moistened swab and then transferred into the organism-specific media tube by breaking the swab at the designated breakpoint. The sample is incubated at 35–37°C for 18–24 hours. If Salmonella is present, bacterial growth causes a colour change in the media, indicating a positive result. The product is supplied as media only and is intended to be used with Path-Chek sampling swabs.
