The Glyphosate Dipstick is based on a rapid immunochromatographic assay using specific antibodies for the recognition of Glyphosate.
The sample is derivatized and then added to the test vial containing specific Glyphosate antibodies labeled with colloidal gold. Glyphosate present in the sample competes with the Glyphosate conjugate on the membrane strip for antibody binding.
Results are interpreted through the visible test and control lines. Two visible lines of similar intensity indicate a negative result, while the absence of a visible test line or a test line lighter than the control line indicates the presence of Glyphosate at a detectable level. For water samples, the manufacturer specifies a detection level of >2.5 ppb.
The test is primarily intended for rapid screening of Glyphosate in water and food samples. Food matrices such as honey, lentils, baby food, wheat/oat cereals and other matrices require appropriate sample extraction before testing.
The test provides preliminary qualitative screening results. Positive samples may be confirmed using ELISA, HPLC or other conventional analytical methods.
