General description
The porcine serum comprises serum amyloid A (SAA), C-reactive protein (CRP), haptoglobin (Hp), and pig major acute phase protein (pig-MAP).[1]
Application
Porcine Serum has been used:
in the neutralization of lipofectamine coated adeno-associated viruses (AAVs)[2]
for inducing liver fibrosis in rats[3]
as a standard negative reference in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)[4]
as a component of trypticase soy broth with 0.6% yeast extract (TSBYE) for culturing A. actinomycetemcomitans strains[5]
Biochem/physiol Actions
Pig serum acute phase proteins (APP) show elevation with age.[1] It is used for the culture of porcine islet cells.[6]
