β-Hexabromocyclododecane may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in textiles,[1] air, and soil,[2] and various other samples[3] by chromatography techniques.
General description
β-Hexabromocyclododecane is the minor diastereomer in the production of the brominated flame retardant (BFR), hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD). It contributes to 16% of the total mixture. HBCD is widely used in a variety of commercial and consumer products.[4]
This compound is listed in the SVHC (Substances of very high concern) candidate list of ECHA (European Chemicals Agency)
