General description
Albumin is the most abundant plasma protein in humans.[1] Albumin turnover is seen in infants with iron deficiency anemia.[2] Serum albumin is a reliable prognostic indicator for liver disease. Oxidative damage of albumin is associated with advanced liver disease.[3]
Application
Albumin from rat serum has been used:
to study its sequence information from multiply charged ions formed by electrospray ionization[4]
to cross-link with silk fibroin (SF) to synthesize a combined protein template[5]
to infused into the brain to study its effects on nerve cell damage following brain injury[6]
