BMP-4 mouse

General description
The gene BMP4 (bone morphogenetic protein 4) encodes a member of the TGFβ (transforming growth factor β) superfamily of intercellular signaling proteins. It is found to be expressed in the extraembryonic ectoderm and mesoderm.[1] E. coli derived murine BMP-4 is a fully active homodimeric protein consisting of two 106 amino acid subunits, which correspond to amino acids 303-408 of the full length BMP-4 precursor.
Application
Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) mouse has been used as an agonist for activin A receptor 1 (ALK2) receptors to test the effects of ALK2 activation in cell death.[2] Biochem/physiol Actions
Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) facilitates the the formation of allantois and primordial germ cell precursors in mouse embryo.[1] It participates in hepatic specification in the early embryo.[3] It is critical for the lens-inducing activity of optic vesicle in mouse embryo.[4] BMP4 mediates atrioventricular septation of the mouse heart.[5] Physical form
Lyophilized from 10 mM Citric Acid.
Preparation Note
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in 10 mM Citric Acid to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
